Who Is Jason Banegas?
Jason Banegas is the murder suspect of 28-year-old Officer Yandy Chirino.
Furthermore, he has an extensive arrest history and is expected to face first-degree murder, armed burglary, grand theft of a firearm, battery on a law enforcement officer, and several other charges according to Hollywood Police Chief Chris O’Brien.
Hollywood Cop Killer Suspect Age
The Hollywood cop killer is reported to be of the age of 18 years old.
The young man shot and killed the Hollywood police officer late Sunday night.
Furthermore, the officer was identified to be 28-year old Ynady Chirino who was a member of the department since 2017. According to O’Brien, Chirino has been recognized many times for his outstanding work effort and had even received five supervisor’s recommendations. In fact, Chirino had been named the Officer of the Month in June 2020.
Jason Banegas Arrest Details
Let’s know the details about Jason Banegas’ arrest.
On Sunday night at around 10.30 pm near the 4100 block of N. Hills Drive, people made several calls to the officers and reported a suspicious incident. There was some sort of altercation between officers and the suspect as said by the Hollywood Police spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi.
An officer was shot and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital. However, he was declared dead later on. The dead officer was identified as 28-year-old Yandy Chirino who was a member of the department since 2017.
The footage showed officers with guns drawn and K-9’s searching the normally quiet neighborhood. Until now, there are no other injuries reported in the incident.
Furthermore, many neighbors said that Jason was seen going through the neighborhood on a bicycle. He was trying to open car doors.
One of the residents said that a surveillance camera at his home had captured Jason at around 10.15 pm which was not long before the altercation.
In addition, the resident reported that Banegas had gotten into one of the cars as it was left unlocked because they had just washed the car the other day. Jason rifled through the glove compartment and there was nothing valuable for him to take.
A bicycle was seen at the scene Monday afternoon.
